It is highly recommended that rugs and blankets be cleaned on a regular basis even if you choose to clean them yourself.
The ammonia found in urine and manure act like acid on fabrics. This can have a detrimental effect on the strength and life of the items, making them easier for horses to rip and destroy them.
It is extremely important to wash rugs and ensure they are free of moisture prior to storing them for the season. Heat and moisture bake in all the ammonias weakening the fabric and leaving permanent stains. Not to mention that dirty items stored makes a great place for spiders, insects and rodents to live.

RUG REPAIRS: - There is a minimum fee of $25 per rug to be repaired to cover the cost of inspection time, labour and materials. Due to the fact that some rugs come in saying they have been washed (but are still smelly and full dirt etc) All rugs must be cleaned by Horse Rugs and Suds prior to repairs being carried out. You will be contacted if the repairs will be costing more than $25. You will be given a quote and you can decide. If you decide not to go ahead with the repairs a $10 fee will be retained and $15 will be refunded. Please consider the value of the item before sending for repairs!!! WASHING RUGS & other items:- All care will be taken, but no responsibility will be taken for damage caused during the laundering process. In some cases (particularly older or inferior) materials/fabrics will disintegrate in the wash. Our laundering is done in a commercial washing machine and the appropriate program is chosen for the type of rug/item. The chemicals are also chosen with the fabric type in mind. There are several pre-wash rinses and after wash rinses to ensure deep cleaning. WATERPROOFING:- Some Manufactures recommend reproofing your rugs at least once each 12 months. Waterproofing will only be done if we launder first. If the rugs have been previously heat proofed please let us know first? THE ITEMS WORTH: Before sending rugs for washing and mending, please consider what the item is worth to you ie: How much did you pay for the item? How old is the item? Is it really worth it?? I will be offended if you expect me to work for peanuts. |
